It was during this period that may of its historic buildings, churches and monasteries were built.  Also the remodelling of the towns principal streets took place, in particular the renowned Calle San Pedro where many aristocratic houses and palaces are to be found. It has been designated a site of historic interest by UNESCO. The Collegiate Church of Santa Maria de la Asuncion has a magnificent collection of paintings by Jose de Ribera and next to the church is the Ducal Pantheon where the tombs of the Dukes of Osuna lie.

The town has excellent communications, considered to be one of the most central locations in Andalucia, the A92 provides fast connections to the cities of Malaga, Seville, Granada and Cordoba within the hour, plus good train service. 

All the main services and facilities are to be found within the town, including the hospital, train station, the bullring and good shopping.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful – olive groves and fields of cereals - and ideal for walking, horseriding and birdwatching.

Osuna was also the location for series 5 "Game of Thrones"
